This dialog box allows you to define a fill in which the color gradually varies from the initial value to the final value, creating particularly effective fill effects.
Type
Choose the type of gradient.
- Linear
-
The linear gradient defines a brush that paints a color gradient in which the color changes evenly from the starting boundary line of the linear gradient brush to the ending boundary line of the linear gradient brush. The boundary lines of a linear gradient brush are two parallel straight lines. The color gradient is perpendicular to the boundary lines of the linear gradient brush, changing gradually across the stroke from the starting boundary line to the ending boundary line. The color gradient has one color at the starting boundary line and another color at the ending boundary line.
- Radial
-
The color gradually varies from an outer border to the center. You can define the center and focus by specifying the parameters in the groups Center and Focus.
- Ellipsoidal
-
The color gradually varies from an outer border to the center. You can define the center and focus by specifying the parameters in the groups Center and Focus.
Rotation
Specify the angle of rotation of the gradient.
Center
Specify the center of a radial or ellipsoidal gradient.
- Pos X
-
Specify the horizontal position of the center.
- Pos Y
-
Specify the vertical position of the center.
Focus
Specify the focus of a radial or ellipsoidal gradient.
- Pos X
-
Specify the horizontal position of the focus.
- Pos Y
-
Specify the vertical position of the focus.
Define colors
At least two colours must be defined to achieve a colour gradient: the initial colour and the final colour. For more elaborate effects, you can define one or more intermediate colors by also defining the position of each of them.
- Start color
-
Select the initial color from the colors available in the palette. To add a new color to the palette, click Style Manager.
- End color
-
Select the final color from the colors available in the palette. To add a new color to the palette, click Style Manager.
Add Intermediate colors
To add a color click the Add Color button. In the dialog box, specify the color and its position within the gradient.
Colour distribution
The distribution curve allows you to define how the color changes. Click on the small boxes on the curve and drag the mouse vertically to change the intensity of the color, drag it horizontally to change the position of the color within the gradient.
To remove a point from the curve, click on it to select it and then click on the Remove color button.
