Ports allow you to extend a connection to connect components that are not connected by a wire. The ports must be used to connect portions of schematics belonging to two different pages. Components, even those belonging to different pages, that are connected with ports having the same name, will be connected. The port name is independent of any name assigned to the connection, it is only used to define which ports must be connected. All ports with the same name will be connected to each other.
