The Close document command closes all open windows for the active document. If more than one window is open for the document, you can only close the active window without closing the document.

To close the active window

Do one of the following:

  • To close the active window, click the Close button in the upper right corner of the edit window. If the active window is the only window in the document, this command also closes the document.

  • In the Window menu click on Windows. In the dialog box that opens, select the windows to close and click the Close windows button.

If the active window is the only window in the document and the document has been modified, a dialog box appears asking you to confirm the operation and proposing that the data be saved in the Job.

Closing a document and saving the data in the Job does not automatically save the data to disk. To make the changes effective in the file on the disk you must save the Job.
