You can edit documents in the edit window. When you open a document, a new tab is added to the edit window.

Open documents are displayed as tabs at the top of the editing window. The document you are editing is highlighted.

To view the menu with all documents open, click Menu . To activate a document, select it from the menu.

To close the document you are editing, click Close

Several document editors are available. Each document is opened and managed using the appropriate document editor. For example, electrical schematics and PCBs are open in the graphics editor, reports are open in the text editor, component libraries are managed in the library editor.

Working with multiple open documents

The editing window is unique, but you can keep multiple documents open at once. To switch between documents, do one of the following:

  • Click on the tab at the top or bottom of the edit window.

  • In the Job Panel, click on the document name.

  • Press the CTRL+SHIFT+TAB key combination.

  • Click the Menu button and choose the document to activate.

  • Choose the document in the Window menu.

  • Choose the command Windows in the menu Window to open the dialog box Window then choose the document and click on Active.

To open a document

Do one of the following:

  • In the Job Panel, double-click on the document name.

  • In Job Panel, right-click on the document name. In the menu that appears choose the command Open document.

To close a document

Do one of the following:

  • To close the document you are editing, click the Close button in the upper right corner of the edit window. Se per il documento sono aperte più di una finestra, questo comando chiude soltanto la finestra attiva ma non il documento.

  • In the Job Panel, right-click on the document name. In the menu that appears choose the command Close document. This command closes all open windows for the active document.

If the document has been modified, a dialog box appears asking you to confirm the operation and proposing to save the data in the Job.

AttenzioneWarning:

Closing a document and saving the data in the Job does not automatically save the data to disk. To make the changes permanent, you must save the Job.

To close the active window

Do one of the following:

  • To close the active window, click the Close button in the upper right corner of the edit window. Se la finestra attiva è l'unica finestra del documento, questo comando chiude anche il documento.

  • In the Window menu click on Windows. In the dialog box that opens, select the windows to close and click the close windows button.

To split the editing window

When you need to see two or more documents at the same time, you can split the editing window. Do one of the following:

  • Place the mouse cursor on the Arrangement submenu in the Window menu. The menu that appears lists the ways in which you can arrange the windows with the documents open.

  • Click on the name of the tab to be repositioned and drag it to the right or bottom edge of the edit window.
