Deleting an object removes the object from the document, but the object data is not deleted and can be retrieved by undoing the last operation performed. Cloned groups can only be deleted after all clones have been deleted.
To delete an object
Select the objects you want to delete and do one of the following:

Choose the Edit » Delete command or click the
tool in the toolbar.
Press DEL key.
To delete an object and keep a copy of it in the clipboard
Select the objects you want to delete and do one of the following:

Choose the Edit » Cut command or click the
tool in the toolbar.
Press the key combination CTRL+X.
