The duplication operation involves the creation of a new object that is the exact copy of the original object but totally distinct and independent from it. Simple duplication of an object is possible, as is serial duplication of objects.

To duplicate an object

The copy is offset from the original. The amount of offset can be set in the document options dialog box or with the Operations » Duplicate » Offset command.

  1. Select the objects to duplicate.

  2. Choose the Operations » Duplicate » Duplicate command or click the tool in the toolbar.

Duplication in a series of objects

You can create multiple copies of the same object with a single command. Duplicate objects can have an array arrangement (in rows and columns), circular or can be deployed along a linear or curved path.

To create a series of duplicates

  1. Select the objects to duplicate.

  2. Choose the command Operations » Duplicate » Duplicate in series or click the tool in the toolbar. A dialog box opens with a tab for each of the four possible distributions:

  3. To start the duplication of the selected objects, select the tab related to the desired distribution and specify the required parameters then click on the Ok button.
